Our Community Team operates across all areas served by the DLR, delivering projects that range from educational programmes to safety awareness campaigns and engagement activities. We work closely with passengers, businesses, and local communities to identify and resolve issues- making travel safer, easier, and more enjoyable for everyone.
DLR Community Grant Fund

In February 2024, to celebrate 10 years of operating the DLR, we launched a 10-month initiative called the Community Grant Fund. Delivered in partnership with Groundwork London, a community-focused environmental charity, the fund was designed to give back to the communities surrounding the DLR network by supporting local projects that make a real difference.
Over the course of ten months, we awarded £10,000 per month, totaling £100,000 in funding. Grants were available to organisations within a three-mile radius of any DLR station, and applicants were encouraged to align their projects with our eight DLR Community Assist priorities: Accessibility , Families, Schools, Community/Environment, Confidence, Employment, Technology, Finance.
Led by Catrina Lynch, Community and Stakeholder Manager, the programme followed the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) methodology, focusing on people’s potential, locally led solutions, and helping communities become more self-reliant and connected.
The Community Grant Fund officially concluded in November 2024. While the grant programme is no longer active, our commitment to community support continues through the DLR Community Assist programme and other local initiatives.
